De Young Properties Helps To Successfully Raise $1,001,180 with St. Jude Dream Home

David Winterstein of Los Banos, the winner of the 2011 St. Jude Dream Home® tours the new home with some members of the De Young Properties team following the announcement.

The 2011 Central Valley St. Jude Dream Home®, built by major donor De Young Properties, was given away to David Winterstein of Los Banos who was selected as the lucky winner of the new 2,019 sq. ft home in the De Young Chestnut Grove community during the November 13th live television broadcast on KMPH FOX 26. This year’s event sold all available tickets and successfully raised $1,001,180 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Over the last five years, De Young Properties has been a major donor and builder of five St. Jude Dream Homes, helping to raise $4,476,025 to help the kids of St. Jude fight cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. One hundred percent of the proceeds were donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which works around the clock to develop cures to save the lives of boys and girls, including children in the San Joaquin Valley. “There is a good chance of someone you know needing St. Jude in the future, a relative, friend, a neighbor, so when you are fortunate enough, you should try and help out when you can,” said David Winterstein, winner of the 2011 St. Jude Dream Home®.

De Young Properties is deeply rooted in the San Joaquin Valley and gives their time and resources to the community whenever possible. “Our De Young team believes in our responsibility to help others and we are appreciative of everyone who contributed their hard-earned dollars to purchase a ticket. We feel privileged to be able to help such an important cause. In addition, we would like to thank our trade partners who donate their time, labor and resources to build a quality crafted home,” said Paula De Young of De Young Properties. “I am inspired each year when our community comes together to show their support for St. Jude.”

This year we experienced a tremendous amount of interest in the St. Jude Dream Home® because it is located in the prime northeast Fresno community of De Young Chestnut Grove and is designed to be a De Young Net Zero EnergySmart home. In addition, the home offers three bedrooms, a formal dining room, a three car garage and an open-air courtyard and is part of the award-winning Clovis school district. The winner’s dreams came true with the home’s generous amount of features, including three clean-air gas fireplaces, a lavish amount of granite, premium-grade 18-inch tile floors, spacious 10’ ceilings and 8’ interior doors, professional front and back yard landscaping and durable concrete tile roofs.

The St. Jude Dream Home® is designed to be a Net Zero EnergySmart™ home. The combination of the state-of-the-art De Young EnergySmart home with the power of solar is designed to reduce annual electricity cost to zero. In addition, the EnergySmart™ home is also GreenPoint Rated, Energy Star certified and built to the tough California Advanced Homes Program Tier 2 standards for assurance that it is healthier to live in and will save the winning family money on their electricity bill.
